Wyoming vs. Nebraska Final Score: Huskers escape with narrow win over ‘Boys
Nebraska extended their nation-best 28-game win streak in season openers with a narrow win at home.

Nebraska had a 17-14 halftime lead thanks to touchdowns from Taylor Martinez and Imani Cross, and seemed to put the game away with two more touchdowns from the pair to start out the third. With a 37-21 lead midway through the fourth, the Huskers' lead seemed safe. The Brett Smith show had only just begun, however, as the Wyoming quarterback threw for his third and fourth touchdown passes of the game, bringing the Cowboys within three.
With less than a minute to go, Wyoming converted on fourth-and-long deep in their own territory, allowing one last Hail Mary chance to win the game. The pass fell plenty short, however, and Nebraska got away with the win.
Box Score Hero: Brett Smith. The Wyoming quarterback went 29/43 for 383 yards and four touchdowns and ran eight times for 92 yards in the loss.
Rankings Ramifications: The polls generally don’t punish schools for winning tight, but Nebraska could drop a few spots.
But Did They Cover? Nebraska were 30-point favorites, so no.
