How to watch Air Force vs. Boise State 2013: Preview, TV schedule, odds and more

The Broncos and Falcons square off on the smurf turf on Friday night.

The Boise State Broncos and Air Force Falcons are set to square off on Friday night under the bright lights of Bronco Stadium. With a national audience watching, it will provide both schools a chance to shine.

Boise State comes in as the heavy favorite, though it’s’ve looked vulnerable early this season. The Broncos need to make a statement and leave no doubt that they are still a contender for a potential BCS bid. Here is a preview of all the action.

The numbers

Rankings and records: Both teams enter with 1-1 records. Boise State received a handful of votes in the latest AP and Coaches polls, though they are nowhere near the top 25 again after being blown out by Washington in the season opener. The last time these two schools met was 2011, with then-No. 5 Boise State coming out with a 37-26 win.

Vegas: Boise State opened as a 24-point favorite, according to Odds Shark.

Weather: It should be a beautiful night for football in Boise with temperatures in the mid-70s.

Three names to know

Joe Southwick: The Broncos' starting quarterback has impressed through two weeks, completing 42-of-65 pass attempts for 386 yards, five touchdowns and an interception. As he goes, Boise State will go.

Jay Ajayi: Ajayi is Boise State's leading rusher, carrying the ball 38 times for 173 yards and two scores.

Jon Lee: Despite being listed as Air Force's No. 2 starter, Lee leads the Falcons with 149 rushing yards and two scores. He's averaging 8.3 yards per carry.

Two things at stake

Boise State cannot afford another bad loss if hopes to reach a big-time bowl game in 2013. The loss at UW did the Broncos no favors, and now they’ll need to run through the Mountain West to become ranked once again. As for Air Force, this is likely its toughest game of the season outside of an October showdown with Notre Dame. A win would be a huge confidence-booster for the team.

How to witness

TV: Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Online streaming: WatchESPN
