After a BuzzFeed report accused Vanderbilt head coach James Franklin of helping cover up an alleged rape by four of his former players, the district attorney has refuted those claims, saying there is no evidence of Franklin’s involvement.
Vanderbilt case: ‘No evidence’ against James Franklin, Chris Boyd pleads down
The district attorney says there is “no evidence” head coach James Franklin was involved in covering up the rape case, while suspended player Chris Boyd pleads down and will cooperate.
DA Thurman:"Clearly no evidence whatsoever that Franklin is involved in the coverup ... no evidence at all that Franklin did anything wrong"

Suspended Vanderbilt wide receiver Chris Boyd has pleaded guilty to criminal intent to be an accessory, and received 11 months and 29 days of probation. He had previously been charged with a felony charge of accessory after the fact. Boyd will be assisting the prosecution in the case.
The prosecution found Boyd was sent an incriminating text message and deleted it as soon as he saw its contents. The Tennesseean has the content of the text conversation. It’s graphic.
BREAKING: As part of the deal, Boyd will cooperate with the cases against the other four former players who are charged with rape.

Without jail time, some media members are wondering if that could mean a possible return for Boyd to the Commodore program.
Obviously nothing is certain, but I imagine this plea deal will open the door for Chris Boyd to return to #Vandy either this season or next.
