In the aftermath of a resounding 44-23 defeat at home to Ole Miss -- a defeat that dropped his Texas Longhorns to 1-2 on the season -- Mack Brown focused attention on his team's goals for the rest of the season (from YNN sports director Ricky Doyle):
Mack Brown after Ole Miss loss: ‘We can get all this righted by winning the Big 12’
The longtime Longhorn head coach chases a conference title and channels ODB in explaining a blowout home loss to Ole Miss.

Mack: "We can get all this righted by winning the Big 12."

Mack also stressed his players’ effort and pleaded with fans to show their support by buying tickets for next week’s game against Kansas State:
Mack: "I don't know how to fix consistency. Thought the effort was better tonight."

Mack message to fans: "Keep coming. Let's beat K State. Come for the kids."

Brown was probably smart to channel his inner ODB and turn attention to “the kids.” Texas fans, who normally hold the 16-year head coach in reverence, booed Mack Brown’s appearance in a stadium public service announcement following a Longhorns touchdown. Texas is 88th nationally in scoring defense. The Longhorns are 121st in rushing defense; only Massachusetts and New Mexico State have been worse against the run.
Brown fired defensive coordinator Manny Diaz after last week's loss to BYU, replacing him with defensive consultant Greg Robinson. According to Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze, the change didn't do much for Texas' defensive scheme (from ESPN Big 12 reporter Jake Trotter):
Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze said the Texas defensive scheme was exactly the same as last week except for one goal line wrinkle

Brown’s run through the Big 12 begins next week. Longhorn fans might not be willing to wait that long:
Seriously, Mack. Just go fishing. You are miserable. We're miserable.
