South Carolina QB Connor Shaw calls out fans for leaving vs. Vanderbilt

The quarterback has harsh words for the students.

South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw was not pleased with the Gamecocks' student section on Saturday, calling out the team's fans for leaving early in their 35-25 win over Vanderbilt.

“First off,” Shaw said. “I don’t think there’s any excuse for our stands to be emptying out ... I was kind of disappointed in that.”

Running back Mike Davis, who is described as angry at the fans by the video’s title, was seemingly caught off-guard by the question and seemed to just be giving a plain, coachspeak answer.

Head coach Steve Spurrier, who’s previously questioned the football culture of the school, cut the fans some slack:

South Carolina held a 35-10 lead in the fourth quarter, but two early Vanderbilt touchdowns made it a 10-point game with around 14 minutes to play. The Gamecocks’ next home game is on Oct. 5 against Kentucky.
