One of the American Athletic Conference’s pleasant surprises early in the 2013 season is Central Florida. They’re at 3-0 after a big road win at Penn State and on the cusp of the Top 25. The run at glory may be over quickly, though (or at least temporarily derailed) with No. 12 South Carolina coming to town on Sept. 28 (UCF has a Week 4 bye).
Unbeaten UCF gets 2 starters back for home game vs. South Carolina
The upstart AAC program will have its full complement of starters against Jadeveon Clowney and company.
The good news is that UCF will be "full go" for the big game, according to head coach George O'Leary, as it welcomes back injured tackle Torrian Wilson and linebacker Willie Mitchell. Here's more from the Orlando Sentinel:
“Yeah, [Wilson will] be back,” O’Leary said. “We’ll be as healthy as we’ve been since the preseason this week. Torrian was out. I suspended a linebacker, Willie Mitchell, for the game. He didn’t make the trip, he’s a starting backer. So we were missing some players that could have helped us, but I’ll tell you it was a good win and the players who filled in did a great job.”
O’Leary said he was pleased with the way the offensive line responded considering Wilson was out with a knee injury. The Knights did not give up a sack against Penn State.
Of special note is the fact that Wilson is a left tackle who will be facing All-American DE Jadeveon Clowney, who is half-human and half-nightmare. It won't be Wilson's job alone to slow Clowney down, as Clowney will be moving all over the line in search of the best matchup, but to have the top left tackle back healthy for the contest is a major help for the Knights.
