Mississippi State’s quarterback may miss Saturday’s matchup after hit to the head against Oklahoma State.

Russell left Mississippi State’s opening game against Oklahoma State after taking a hit to the head late in the third quarter, and was replaced by Dak Prescott. Prescott is expected to start for the Bulldogs on Saturday if Russell can not play.

Russell, a senior, had completed ten out of 16 passes for 133 yards in the game before the injury. Mississippi State were trailing the game 14-3 when he left the game, and ultimately lost 21-3.
Last year, Russell completed 58.6% of his passes and threw for 2,897 yards, averaging 7.4 yards per attempt. He threw for 24 touchdowns against ten interceptions. He is the Bulldogs’ all-time leader in pass efficiency, and is second all-time in touchdowns thrown by a Mississippi State quarterback.
