Playing in front of a capacity crowd at Bulldog Stadium, the Boise State Broncos and Fresno State Bulldogs are tied, 10-10, on Friday night.
Boise State vs. Fresno State score: Broncos, Bulldogs tied at 10-10
The Bulldogs took the early advantage on their first drive of the game. Derek Carr capped off a nine-play, 58-yard drive with a 14-yard touchdown strike to tailback Josh Quezada to give Fresno State a 7-0 lead.
The Broncos responded with a touchdown drive of their own a couple possessions later. Joe Southwick continued to move the ball down the field through the air, setting up tailback Jay Ajayi for the one-yard touchdown run from the goal line.
A 68-yard deep pass from Carr to Greg Watson got the Bulldogs all the way down to the 1-yard line, but the Broncos were able to make a stand and force just a field goal to keep the deficit at three. Boise State then marched down the field in the closing minutes of the first quarter and converted a 31-yard field goal to tie the game at 10.
Carr’s effort has been a mixed bag so far since he is just 5-of-14 through the air for 110 yards. Southwick has been impressive and accurate, completing 7-of-11 passes for 99 yards. Neither team is yet to really get their ground game going, though it’s still early. Southwick currently has a team-high 19 yards on the ground.
