The Terrapin defense victimized West Virginia quarterback Ford Childress, who put up some rather unfathomable statistics: 11-22, 62 yards, two picks and (obviously) no touchdowns. Childress was sacked three times in the loss as well.

Box Score Hero: With nobody putting up great offensive stats on either side of the ball, Maryland’s defense is an easy call for heroics; West Virginia was held to an anemic 175 yards and just six first downs. That’s dominance.
Rankings Ramifications: Nobody’s going to mistake this year’s West Virginia squad for a potential Top-25 team, but this win pushes Maryland to a 4-0 mark, and the dominant nature of this win just might lead to a few votes in next week’s poll. This is a big, sexy win and voters like sexy, especially when it comes to finding new teams to fill out the bottom portion of a bracket.
But Did They Cover? Maryland was favored by four points, so um, yes.
