There were three missed extra points and an interception, but otherwise, it was business as expected for Texas A&M -- the Aggies took a 14-0 lead over the SMU Mustangs by 5:49 in the first quarter and never looked back. The score was 32-6 by halftime, and 42-6 by the end of the third. By then backup quarterbacks Matt Joeckel -- brother of Jaguars offensive tackle Luke -- and Kenny Hill were in the game, although neither looked very good.
SMU vs. Texas A&M final score: Texas A&M rolls in a 42-13 win
Texas A&M rebounds from the Alabama loss with a 29 point win over the Mustangs.

A week after allowing 568 yards to Alabama, the Texas A&M defense stepped up their efforts considerably -- SMU still recorded an alarming number of yards, but only averaged 5.14 yards per play on the evening. Mustangs quarterback Garrett Gilbert took 62 attempts to throw for his 310 yards.
Despite the dominating win, one area of concern going forward has to be A&M's inability to get a ground game going. Having Johnny Manziel makes the rushing stats look better, but Ben Malena, Brandon Williams, Trey Williams and company combined for a mere 4.3 yards per carry.
Box Score Hero: Johnny Football only played three quarters, but you wouldn’t know it from the statline. Manziel went 14-of-21 for 244 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, then added in 12 carries for 102 yards and two more touchdowns on the ground. Just another day’s work for No. 2.
Rankings Ramifications: With the win and Georgia’s close call against North Texas, the Aggies may see a slight bump in their AP poll ranking, but nothing more major than that.
But Did They Cover? Texas A&M was a 26.5 to 28.5 point favorite. They covered at all websites.
