The Stanford Cardinal are having a rough second half against Arizona State, and things just got worse. Their best defensive back, Ed Reynolds, was ejected for targeting for this hit on ASU quarterback Taylor Kelly.

The Cardinal will miss Reynolds for the rest of this game and the first half of their next game.

That’s pretty much a textbook targeting call, and there’s not much of an argument against the ejection. Reynolds led with the crown of his helmet and he hit Kelly square in the facemask. Since the ejection happened in the second half, Reynolds will miss the first half of Stanford’s next game on top of the rest of this game.
Stanford has allowed three passing touchdowns in the fourth quarter, and what was once a blowout is now a two possession game with six minutes left.
