Injured Virginia Tech defensive back Antone Exum hasn't played all season because of an ACL injury suffered during a pickup basketball game in January, but his return may be right around the corner. Exum says he plans to visit with Dr. James Andrews on Saturday and hopes to be cleared for practice next Monday. Exum wants to be back on the field for the Hokies' game against North Carolina on Oct. 5.
Antone Exum injury: Hokies CB hopes to be cleared for practice next week
Virginia Tech may be close to getting back its all-conference cornerback, who has been rehabbing an ACL injury.

Andrews, who performed the surgery on Exum’s knee, effectively ruled out a return for Exum until early October when he examined the cornerback’s progress in August. Exum began practicing lightly with the team during the week of the East Carolina game, and he was in a blue limited contact jersey on Monday.
Exum was a second-team All-ACC selection as a junior in 2012 and led the Hokies with five interceptions. Despite his absence in 2013, Virginia Tech ranks fifth nationally in total defense and sixth in pass efficiency defense, though there’s no question his return will provide a boost.
