Let’s just say Urban Meyer, Bret Bielema won’t have a reunion party any time soon

The two coaches clash words yet again.

Urban Meyer and Bret Bielema only coached in the same conference for one year, but that appears to have been more than enough to leave a sizable impression on both coaches, as evident by comments leading up to Saturday’s clash between Ohio State and Wisconsin.

Let’s just say they don’t like each other.

Meyer took over the Ohio State job in 2012, while Bielema is in his first year as the Arkansas head coach after leaving Wisconsin.

This is not the first conflict between the Bielemas and Ohio State this season -- previously, Bret’s wife Jen blamed Wisconsin’s last-second loss to Arizona State on karma, and Buckeye assistant coach Mike Vrabel’s wife (also Jen) responded in kind when Arkansas lost to Rutgers.

When Meyer was first hired at Ohio State, Bret Bielema expressed concern about the new Buckeye coach’s aggressive recruiting tactics, hinting that Meyer was breaking an unwritten rule by going after recruits who were verbally committed elsewhere. Meyer did not respond well to the remarks, suggesting he would just recruit those players even harder. Wisconsin’s athletic director and former head coach Barry Alvarez sided with Meyer in the dispute.

Meyer’s Ohio State squad beat Bielema’s Wisconsin team last year in Madison, 21-14. It is the only time the two have faced each other as head coaches.
