De’Anthony Thomas injury update: Oregon star questionable at best vs. Colorado

There’s been no official word yet, but the scene in Eugene suggests the Ducks will be without their top weapon. They have more.

Oregon’s De’Anthony Thomas is apparently being ruled out of Oregon’s Week 6 game against Colorado after suffering an ankle injury on Saturday against Cal. The star running back injured his ankle on the opening kickoff in the Ducks’ 55-16 win over Cal Saturday, and did not return to the game.

His official status is questionable, but observation indicates his recovery isn’t being rushed:

He was wearing a walking boot and pads while talking with media Tuesday.

On Sunday, Thomas suggested on Twitter that the injury was not severe.

The junior has gained a reputation as one of the most explosive players in college football, and entered the season widely considered as a Heisman candidate. As a freshman in 2011, he averaged more than ten yards per carry, and has scored 16 total touchdowns in each of his two seasons at Oregon.

In the three games before his injury, Thomas had 42 carries for 338 yards (an 8.1 average) with six touchdowns. The Ducks travel to Colorado Saturday to face the Buffaloes.
