Utah State vs. San Jose State score: Chuckie Keeton leads Aggies to early 17-3 lead

Chuckie Keeton and the Utah State Aggies hold a 17-3 lead over San Jose State midway through the second quarter.

Keeton has picked apart the Spartans' secondary so far, completing 7-of-12 passes for 86 yards and two touchdowns. On Utah State's first dive of the game, Keeton connected with D.J. Tialavea for a 3-yard touchdown strike to give the Aggies a 7-0 lead.

San Jose State answered on its first possession with a 31-yard field goal off the foot of Austin Lopez. Even with the field goal, USU’s defense had to be feeling good about coming away with a stop in the red zone to halt a 14-play drive that spanned nearly 70 yards.

Late in the first quarter, Keeton hit Keegan Andersen with a 5-yard touchdown pass to give the Aggies a 14-3 lead. Nick Diaz then hit a 24-yard field goal early in the second quarter to push the lead to 17-3.

In addition to the two passing touchdowns, Keeton has also rushed for 34 yards on six carries. He’s doing a little bit of everything for Utah State tonight, and SJSU will have to make adjustments in a hurry if it hopes to stay in the game much longer.
