The Utah State Aggies had their way with San Jose State's defense in the first half, taking a 23-6 lead at Spartan Stadium in San Jose, Calif.
Utah State vs. San Jose State score: Aggies leading Spartans at halftime, 23-6
Utah State quarterback Chuckie Keeton played well in the opening half, completing 16 of 24 passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns. Keeton connected with D.J. Tialavea and Keegan Andersen early in the first quarter to give the Aggies an early 14-3 lead. In the second quarter, Nick Diaz hit field goals from 24, 45 and 25 yards out to continue piling on the scoreboard.
Not a whole lot went right for the Spartans early, and a last-second field goal attempt that would’ve cut the deficit to 14 points went wide right. Quarterback David Fales has been unable to find the end zone and threw a costly interception deep in his own territory. SJSU’s ground game has been nonexistent; as a team, they carried the football just 11 times for 39 yards.
