College football 2013 results: Scores and recaps of Friday’s Week 5 games
Taysom Hill and BYU got back to .500 while Utah State picked up a nice win on the road.

Coming off a tough loss to Utah in the Holy War, BYU improved to 2-2 on the season with a 37-10 victory against Middle Tennessee. The Blue Raiders led 10-7 after the first quarter, but it was all Cougars from there. After the BYU defense recorded a safety to make it 10-9, Taysom Hill broke free for a 50-yard touchdown run to put BYU up for good.
The Cougars added another touchdown to make it 23-10 at halftime. An early third quarter touchdown put BYU even further ahead and JD Falslev iced the game with a 71-yard punt return touchdown to make it a 37-10 game at the end of the third quarter.
Hill was a force for the Cougars, doing damage with his arms and legs. He completed 14 of 19 passes for 177 yards while rushing for another 165 yards and two touchdowns. The BYU defense did the rest, forcing five turnovers and limiting the Blue Raiders to 212 total yards of offense. Middle Tennessee quarterback Logan Kilgore finished 13 of 31 for 82 yards.
The loss dropped Middle Tennessee to 3-2 on the season.
Utah State 40, San Jose State 12
Utah State nearly notched a road victory against USC last week and the Aggies took care of business on the road against San Jose State. Utah State jumped out to a 14-3 lead in the first quarter and cruised to the 40-12 win over the Spartans.
Chuckie Keeton wasn't quite as dynamic as he has been at times this season, although he still did more than enough to lead Utah State to victory. He completed 29 of 42 passes for 260 yards and three touchdowns and added 52 yards with another touchdown on the ground. The Aggies nearly led wire-to-wire. They received the opening kickoff and scored 3:24 into the game when Keeton hit D.J. Tialavea for a 3-yard touchdown pass.
The win improved Utah State to 3-2 on the season and 2-0 in the Mountain West. San Jose State dropped to 1-3 on the season and 0-1 in conference play. The Aggies have been impressive this season when not playing Pac-12 opponents. In their three games not against Utah or USC, Utah State has outscored its opponents 162 to 38.
