West Virginia vs. Oklahoma State update: Mountaineers have No. 11 Cowboys on upset alert

After naming a new starting quarterback and making 23 changes to the depth chart this past week, West Virginia has No. 11 Oklahoma State on upset alert. At the half, WVU holds a 24-14 lead.

Oklahoma State moved out to an early 7-0 lead, but a 58-yard interception return from Ishmael Banks tied things up midway through the first quarter. Clint Trickett then connected with Kevin White on a 17-yard touchdown strike to give the Mountaineers the lead. Josh Lambert then hit a 42-yard field goal to give West Virginia a 17-7 lead.

J.W. Walsh led the Cowboys back down the field on the ensuing drive to restore some stability for a team that appeared to be somewhat rattled on the road. WVU stole the momentum right back before the half, though, as Charles Sims plowed his way through the goal line to put the Mountaineers up 24-14. Oklahoma State attempted a long field goal just before halftime, but it sailed wide-left.

For a team most had counted out, West Virginia really battled in the first half. A win over OSU could be a season-saver, and it would certainly help some of the faithful in Morgantown step away from the ledge a bit.
