Brian Kelly gave quarterback Tommy Rees the dreaded vote of confidence, saying there is "no question" Rees is the starter for the Irish in a teleconference Sunday.
Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly: ‘No question’ Tommy Rees still Irish starter
Brian Kelly has backed up his starting quarterback after another dismal start.

#NotreDame HC Brian Kelly: "There's no question the quarterback that's gonna start for us is Tommy Rees."

If you have to announce your starter is still the starter, that is probably not a good sign. The Irish have struggled to a 3-2 start, with losses to Michigan and Oklahoma. Rees has completed just 53.3 percent of his passes for 7.4 yards per attempt, with 10 touchdowns against five interceptions. Everett Golson was expected to be the Irish's starter, but was suspended over the summer and Rees had to step up and take over.
Rees posted a pitiful line in Notre Dame's loss to the Sooners Saturday, completing just nine of 24 pass attempts for 104 yards with two touchdowns against three interceptions. Andrew Hendrix has been Rees's back-up, and did not complete his only pass attempt against Oklahoma.
Another option could be true freshman Malik Zaire, a four-star prospect from Ohio. Kelly seemed to suggest that was unlikely.
"My guess is right now unless we have an injury, you’re not gonna see Malik." Kelly on not playing Zaire. Red shirt likely.
