Todd Gurley injury: UGA running back ‘day-to-day’ with ankle sprain

Georgia fans can rest easier -- it doesn’t sound like Todd Gurley will miss a significant amount of time.

Georgia Bulldogs running back Todd Gurley is "day-to-day" with a sprained ankle, head coach Mark Richt said Sunday. Richt added that he'll be limited in practice -- if he practices -- on Monday and Tuesday, though Gurley hasn't been ruled out of next week's game against Tennessee.

Gurley suffered the injury during the second quarter of Georgia's 44-41 victory over LSU in Athens on Saturday. He was being taken down along the sideline by LSU safety Craig Loston when he rolled the ankle:

Gurley would not return, finishing the day with 73 yards on eight carries. He is the team’s leading rusher with 450 yards on 71 carries this season; that yardage total ranks fifth in the SEC.

Fortunately for the Bulldogs, they have a solid replacement option in sophomore Keith Marshall, who handled the bulk of the work after Gurley got hurt. Marshall was second on the team with 759 yards rushing last season, and he has 213 yards on the ground so far in 2013.
