UCLA football fans weren’t entirely thrilled by the team’s “LA Nights” alternate uniforms last year. The rollout was botched, according to Bruins Nation, and any departure from what UCLA fans feel is the best home uniform in college football is bound to be met with resistance from traditionalists.

UCLA is set to wear its new “TECHFIT” digs on November 15 against Washington.

So hey, let’s try that all again, but with black uniforms! Pictures ahoy:
UCLA will wear these in a Friday night tilt against Washington on November 15. Makes sense; black uniforms just look better at night under the lights.
Here’s what Adidas had to say about the new alternate uniforms in a press release:
UCLA’s new adidas TECHFIT “LA Midnight” uniform is black with blue and gold shoulder stripes and player numbers. The jersey font incorporates a stripe detail inspired by UCLA’s traditional shoulder stripes. The Bruins’ helmet is black with the UCLA logo in gold metallic, a consistent color throughout the uniforms. UCLA’s adizero 5-Star gloves and adidas TECHFIT base layer feature a landscape reminiscent of the Los Angeles skyline at night and the Bruins will wear adidas Team Speed Vertical socks and Crazyquick Mid cleats.
The Bruins’ uniforms this season include adidas TECHFIT ShockWeb technology, designed to keep players fast, cool and mobile onfield. adidas ShockWeb features engineered body mapping, which maximizes compression zones across the chest and sides, in a lightweight knit structure that provides a tight fit with enhanced range of motion. Integrated CLIMACOOL mesh zones create airflow to keep players cool in every temperature.
Neat! We understood almost half of that!
What do you think? Cool, lame, somewhere in between?
