After two blowouts Thursday night, college football fans can expect at least one close game in the Friday night slate considering one matchup sees a conference rivalry and another hosts an in-state contest.

An in-state rivalry and a conference showdown are on the slate for an exciting Friday night in college football.

UCF @ FIU - CBS Sports Network
Central Florida is no longer in Conference USA, leaving for brighter pastures in the newly-named American Athletic Conference, and FIU is now in Conference USA after leaving the Sun Belt. The two teams will face off for only the third time in a rubber match :FIU won the first contest, in 2011, while UCF won 33-20 in 2012.
Central Florida won their first game with ease when the Knights dispatched visiting Akron 38-7. UCF almost certainly has the "best names" part down, as quarterback Blake Bortles completed 18 of 24 passes for 314 yards and three touchdowns while running back Storm Johnson had 20 carries for 99 yards and two scores.
FIU suffered a 43-10 blowout loss to Maryland in their opener, getting outgained by more than 400 yards in the contest. Star quarterback Jake Medlock was 5 of 15 for 26 yards and the Golden Panthers averaged just 2.3 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Maryland averaged more than 11 yards per passing attempt and six yards per rush.
Wake Forest @ Boston College - ESPN
The ACC season began in Week 1 when Florida State trounced Pittsburgh, but this one should be a much closer contest. The Demon Deacons have won the last two matchups in the series, but the Eagles hold a narrow 10-8-2 lead all-time.
Wake Forest trailed visiting Presbyterian 7-0 early in their opening week matchup, but eventually cruised to a 31-7 victory. The Deacons are led by a talented trio of seniors on offense: quarterback Tanner Price, running back Josh Harris and wide receiver Michael Campanaro. Campanaro did not play against Presbyterian, but is expected to make his 2013 debut in this one.
Boston College struggled a bit against their FCS opponent, trailing at halftime before pulling away with the 24-14 win over Villanova. The Eagles have an impressive trio of seniors of their own, too, in quarterback Chase Rettig, running back Andre Williams and wide receiver Alex Amidon.
Which to watch: Wake Forest @ Boston College. It should be quite the interesting matchup considering both quarterbacks have been the starters in their program for years and both wide receiver corps are considered among the best in the conference. Both teams are hoping to avoid the cellar in what is shaping out to be a crowded ACC Atlantic Division so this could be the deciding game in their seasons.
