No. 13 Oklahoma State and UTSA kick off the first game of a three-game series between the two schools this weekend, as two undefeated teams square off in an early season showdown. The Cowboys will visit the Roadrunners in San Antonio Saturday, with UTSA making the trip to Stillwater over the next two years. Television coverage will begin at 12:00 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.

The Cowboys won their opener last week against Mississippi State, running for nearly 300 yards in a 21-3 win in Houston. Oklahoma State allowed a field goal to the Bulldogs with 8:38 to go in the first, and did not allow its opponent to score again, holding Mississippi State to just two third-down conversions on 16 attempts.
UTSA is in its second transitional FBS season, and will become bowl eligible in 2014. Last year, in their first transitional season, the Roadrunners went 8-4 under the tutelage of former Miami coach Larry Coker, who is still the head coach in San Antonio. UTSA won their opener last week, traveling to Albuquerque to defeat the New Mexico Lobos 21-13.
The numbers
Rankings and records: Both the Cowboys and the Roadrunners stand at 1-0 on the season. This is the first matchup between the two teams.
Vegas: Oklahoma State is a 27-point favorite. The over/under is 60 points.
Weather: High of 97 with a low of 73. Partly cloudy.
Three names to know
J.W. Walsh/Jeremy Smith. The Cowboys' starting quarterback and running back will combine for a lethal ground attack the Roadrunners will have to contend with. The two combined for 227 yards and three touchdowns on the ground in the opener against Mississippi State, and Walsh had twenty total touchdowns last season.
Caleb Lavey. The senior linebacker for Oklahoma State had eleven tackles with two for a loss and a half of a sack against the Cowboys, earning Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Eric Soza. UTSA's quarterback is a legitimate playmaker who threw for 237 yards and two touchdowns while running for 48 yards against New Mexico last week. Last year, he had 18 touchdowns against three interceptions, with six more touchdowns on the ground.
Two things at stake
While it is a road game, Oklahoma State still needs to avoid national embarrassment with a loss to a relatively unknown team.
UTSA had a quietly great season last year, and Larry Coker’s program could announce itself on the national stage with a big win over a ranked team.
