How to watch San Diego State vs. Ohio State: Preview, TV schedule, odds and more

The Buckeyes will attempt to keep their train rolling forward while the Aztecs try to recover from a nightmare start. Here’s how you can tune in to see Ohio State vs. San Diego State, and what to expect.

Ohio State’s quest for a perfect season rolls on into week two, as they play host to the San Diego State Aztecs. The Buckeyes won their season opener, 40-20, over Buffalo, but didn’t look particularly overwhelming along the way. However, they still got the win, and that’s the most important thing.

San Diego State, meanwhile, had a disastrous season opener, losing 40-19 at home to FCS Eastern Illinois. The Aztecs were shot down by sloppy play and five turnovers, but it will be tough to clean things up too much with the level of competition increasing so much. Maybe the imposing road atmosphere of the Horseshoe will bring them together, but going back home with a positive result seems like too tall an order for this team.

The numbers

Rankings and records: The Buckeyes are 1-0 and ranked third in the nation, while the Aztecs are 0-1 and unranked. Ohio State is 3-0 all time against San Diego State, with all three meetings coming between 2001-2005.

Vegas: Ohio State -28

Weather: Partly cloudy with a high in the low to mid-80s.

Three names to know

Adam Dingwell. No one looked good for the Aztecs last week, but Dingwell's day was pretty bad. He completed under 50 percent of his passes against Eastern Illinois, going 27-63 (!) for 318 yards, zero touchdowns, and four interceptions. His starting job is safe for now, but a better game against Ohio State would go a long way toward keeping his seat cool.

Bradley Roby. Roby is back after being suspended for the season opener, and he is a welcome sight for Buckeye fans. The pass defense looked vulnerable, and Roby can help lock down an entire side of the field by himself, which is a pretty handy skill to have.

Jordan Hall. Hall broke loose against Buffalo last week, rushing for 159 yards and two touchdowns, providing a welcome second option for Braxton Miller. With Carlos Hyde still on suspension, Hall figures to be lion's share of the carries for the Buckeyes.

Two things at stake

Ohio State’s perfect season. The Buckeyes need a perfect season to challenge for a BCS title, and that is on the line every week, regardless of the opponent. San Diego State may look vulnerable now, but the Buckeyes still have zero margin for error.

Respect for San Diego State. A good showing in the Horseshoe on Saturday would go restore some respectability for this team. They weren’t the only FBS team to lose to an FCS school, but that stink can linger with a program if it doesn’t get it together and regroup quickly.
