Entering Saturday, Texas coaches were concerned about the pace of BYU’s new up-tempo offense. They had good reason.
BYU on pace to run for 672 yards on Texas’ defense
The Longhorns are getting absolutely trampled by BYU quarterback Taysom Hill and company.

At the half, the Cougars have compiled 412 yards on Texas' very talented and very experienced defense. Even worse, 336 yards of those have come on the ground, with 168 of them by quarterback Tayson Hill. Hill has touchdowns of 68 and 20 yards. Running back Jamaal Williams has 98, and Paul Lasike is also on pace to top triple digits. All told, BYU is averaging 8.6 yards per carry against the most advantaged and privileged program in the country.
The game was delayed by heavy rains in Utah. You’d think that would slow things down a tad, but nope.
So what’s the problem? Wescott Eberts of Burnt Orange Nation has been supplying increasingly frustrated analysis during the onslaught:
Welp, looks like Texas didn't figure out how to defend the zone read during the week of preparation.

Don't understand why the D continues to allow QB to keep the ball. NMSU did same thing. Absolute garbage. Play numbers inside.

No words.

Like the 2010 KSU game. RT @max_olson: BYU has 62 passing yards and that might be about all they need tonight. #TEXvsBYU

Could have sworn it was about 20. RT @celebrityhottub: Texas gave up FOURTEEN runs of ten yards or more in the first half.
