One of Florida State's most well-respected alums thinks it's time for Jameis Winston to grow up. Speaking with The Huffington Post, former Seminole cornerback Myron Rolle stated that the star quarterback's maturation process is "taking quite a long time," and that his prominent role in the community dictates he change his ways.
Jameis Winston taking too long to mature, says Myron Rolle
The former Seminole defender and Rhodes scholar says Winston is not handling the pressure that comes along with being a public role model.

Rolle, who said he’s known Winston since he was a high schooler, claimed the quarterback “has a good heart” and is “a great leader,” but that he’s struggling to mature in the public spotlight.
“I haven’t been able to wrestle him down in Tallahassee and talk to him and speak life into him,” said Rolle. “But if I could, I would tell him, ‘Look, you have a huge microscope on you. It’s difficult to mitigate the pressures you’re feeling every single day, just being an absolute rockstar here in Tallahassee and around the country. But, my brother, you need to because people are counting on you. People look up to you. People see you as a role model and as a leader. And with that call, there comes a certain level of responsibility.’”

Last year’s Heisman Trophy winner has become known for his off-field issues as well as his on-field triumphs. Winston was embroiled in a sexual assault scandal last year, though charges were never filed in the case. Most recently, he was suspended for the Clemson game this season for shouting obscenities in the Florida State student union, an absence that nearly cost his team the game.
Rolle, who played defensive back for the Seminoles from 2006-09, is a former Rhodes Scholar who retired from the NFL last year to enroll in medical school.
