Jameis Winston will not play at all in Florida State's game against Clemson on Saturday. The Seminoles' Heisman-winning quarterback had previously been suspended for just the first half after he was observed Tuesday shouting obscene comments on the FSU campus.
Jameis Winston will not play vs. Clemson
The Seminoles will be without their Heisman Trophy winner for all four quarters on Saturday
The joint statement from Florida State interim president Dr. Garnett S. Stokes and athletic director Stan Wilcox, per Tomahawk Nation, read, “Based upon the results of our continuing investigation of Tuesday’s incident involving Jameis Winston, we have decided to not play him for the entire game against Clemson on Saturday night.”
The statement doesn't make it clear whether FSU learned something new about the incident -- it's hard to imagine what else there is to learn -- or is simply responding to public criticism that the initial half-game suspension was not severe enough. Winston imitated a popular internet meme and shouted, "f--k her right in the p---y," which was reported by many students. That followed Winston's citation for shoplifting, a sexual assault accusation, and some relatively minor run-ins.
Follow-up reports suggest there might be more to the story:
Am being told increased penalty for FSU's Jameis Winston came after school discovered he'd not been entirely truthful with them.

— Bruce Feldman (@BruceFeldmanCFB) September 20, 2014 As far as Saturday is concerned, this means that backup Sean Maguire will have the reins for all four quarters against the Clemson Tigers. Maguire came on in relief of Winston in the latter portion of FSU’s many 2013 blowouts, completing 13 passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns. In the Seminoles’ 37-12 win over The Citadel, Maguire went three-for-five, picking up 28 yards through the air.
