Here’s some fun with numbers for you. Georgia Tech, with their vaunted triple-option offense, is rushing for less yards per carry than Duke. Duke, with quarterback guru David Cutcliffe running the show, has a lower passing rating than the Yellow Jackets.
How to watch Duke vs. Georgia Tech: Game guide, TV schedule, streaming, odds
Can the Yellow Jackets continue their undefeated run?
Of course, much of that is smaller sample size -- Georgia Tech runs the ball more, so defenses respond (and vice versa with the Blue Devils) -- but these two offenses are playing well this season in large part due to their ability to make big plays in their supposedly uncomfortable areas.
The Yellow Jackets opened the season with a relatively easy slate of opponents, defeating Wofford, Tulane and Georgia Southern. They haven’t slowed down in ACC play, traveling on the road to defeat Virginia Tech and returning home to beat Miami -- both potential Coastal contenders. Now they’ll face another division contender in Duke, who likewise played an easy non-conference schedule, but is coming off a conference-opening loss to Miami.

The numbers

The Yellow Jackets are 5-0, with an 0-2 record in ACC play putting them on top of the Coastal. The Blue Devils are 4-1, with an 0-1 record in conference competition placing them sixth in the division. Georgia Tech holds a 50-30-1 lead in the all-time series, and have won the last 10 games between the two schools.
Vegas: Georgia Tech opened as a 6-point favorite. The line has now moved to -3 or 3.5, depending on your sports book of choice. The over/under is set at 58.
Weather forecast: 79 degrees with a chance of thunderstorm.
Two things at stake
With a win, Georgia Tech would become bowl eligible.
Duke needs a win to stay in the Coastal race.
One big matchup
Georgia Tech rushing offense vs. Duke front seven. The Yellow Jackets are averaging 5.7 yards per carry this season, led by quarterback Justin Thomas (6.0, three touchdowns), running back Zach Laskey (5.0, two touchdowns) and six other players who have at least a dozen carries so far this season.
The Blue Devils are allowing 4.2 yards per carry this season, but showed signs of struggle last time out in their loss to Miami. It was the third game in a row Duke gave up at least 200 yards on the ground, and the 5.0 yards per carry mark for the Hurricanes was a season-worst for the Blue Devil defense.
