College GameDay is headed to Tallahassee, as the weekly college pregame show will travel to see undefeated Florida State host undefeated Notre Dame, ESPN’s Brett McMurphy announced.
Notre Dame-Florida State officially the biggest game of Week 8
Two undefeated playoff contenders *and* a re-match of the first-ever GameDay? It’s a no-brainer.
This will be the 11th time Florida State has hosted the show and the second time this season, following the Seminoles’ 23-17 overtime win over Clemson earlier this season. Florida State was also involved in the first episode of GameDay this year, in their neutral-site opener against Oklahoma State. This will be the 31st time the Seminoles have appeared on the show’s featured game.
Notre Dame hosted the first-ever College GameDay road show in 1993, when the No. 2 Irish played the No. 1 Seminoles in South Bend. This will be the 25th time they appear on the show’s featured game.
Both teams are strong playoff contenders, with undefeated records despite mostly underwhelming performances against weaker competition. The Seminoles will rank in the top two of the polls, while the Irish will likely be a top 5 team. Florida State defeated Syracuse 38-20 on Saturday, while Notre Dame beat North Carolina at home 50-43.
