How to watch Clemson vs. Boston College: Game guide, TV/streaming, odds

Is Boston College an outside contender for the ACC Coastal? Or are the Eagles at least in the upper tier?

When Clemson lost to Jameis Winston-less Florida State in Tallahassee earlier this season, the common belief was that the Tigers had blown their only opportunity to win the ACC. After all, they’ll now have to not lose again and hope FSU loses twice to win the division, and while that’s a tough task, Clemson has shown that it still belongs among the better teams in college football.

The Tigers’ defense has impressed and the running game has been a surprise this year, even among the inconsistency at quarterback. Clemson is probably not going to win the ACC, but it’s clear that the Tigers still have one of the better teams in the conference.

However, Clemson might get one of its tougher tests of the season against Boston College ... or maybe the Eagles won’t be competitive. It’s really impossible to tell from this team that beat USC, beat NC State pretty handily, and also lost to Colorado State and Pitt. This will be a good test for both teams at the midway point of the season.

How to watch, listen, and stream

Game time: 3:30 p.m. ET

TV: ESPNU

Radio: Clemson Tigers Sports Network, Boston College IMG Sports Network

Online streaming: WatchESPN

The numbers

Rankings and records: Clemson is 4-2, and the Tigers are ranked 24th in the AP Poll and 22nd in the Coaches Poll. Boston College is 4-2 and unranked.

Vegas: Clemson opened as a 7.5-point favorite, but is now a 5-point favorite. The over/under is 45.

Weather forecast: Partly cloudy with a high of 72 and a low of 48.

Two things at stake

Clemson can make a pretty good claim as the second best team in the ACC with a big win.

Boston College can announce itself as part of the top group of the ACC Atlantic with a win.

One big matchup

Boston College offense vs. Clemson defense: Boston College has proven its ability to keep teams within striking distance, thanks to a solid defense, and it should be able to keep the relatively inconsistent Clemson offense to a reasonable number of points. However, offense could be hard to come by for the Eagles. While BC doesn’t have a bad offense, the unit has struggled in some games, while it has been good in others (kind of like Clemson’s, but not as good). For the Eagles to win, the offense that showed up in the last game against NC State is going to need to make an appearance again — and probably be even better.
