Brett Favre, who was scheduled to be one of Saturday's guests on ESPN College GameDay in Tallahassee, did not appear on the show. Fowler explained his absence as a mechanical problem with Favre's flight.
Brett Favre didn’t show up to College GameDay
The legendary quarterback, who was scheduled to appear on ESPN’s college pregame show in Tallahassee, missed the broadcast.

Favre was supposed to appear with Ken Griffey Jr. for the show’s final segment and pick the week’s biggest games.
Excited to have Ken Griffey Jr and Brett Favre join @CollegeGameDay as celeb pickers tomorrow
— Lee Fitting (@leefitting) October 17, 2014 Host Chris Fowler began walking back the Favre appearance during the show, mentioning that Griffey would be the guest and that he “hope[d] Favre could make it.” While Griffey was on set at the end of the show, Favre was nowhere to be found.
Favre has no particular connection to Florida State. He played college football at Southern Miss, and his pro career brought him no closer than Atlanta. In fact, the only loose connection Favre has with the Seminoles is awkward at best: He was accused of harassing New York Jets employee — and noted Florida State fan — Jenn Sterger in 2008.
Like Favre, Griffey has no obvious connection to Florida State. He entered baseball out of high school, and never played for a team in the state of Florida during his 22-year career.
'College GameDay'
ESPN has moved away from GameDay guests with ties to the host program this season. Two weeks ago, Katy Perry acted as guest picker despite having no personal ties to the host, Ole Miss. Country music star Kenny Chesney appeared on GameDay at South Carolina despite being an avowed Tennessee fan (South Carolina fans did not take it well).
