In the wake of the Shane Morris concussion issue last Saturday, Michigan has come under a lot of criticism for leaving leaving a clearly concussed player in the game. Now, athletic director Dave Brandon said in an interview with Mark Snyder of the Detroit Free Press that coach Brady Hoke is not at all at fault for the decision to leave Morris in the game. Instead, Brandon blamed the medical staff.

Instead, Brandon placed the blame on the medical staff.

“This is a problem on the sidelines,” he said. “It has nothing to do with the coaches.”
That reiterates Brandon’s vote of confidence in Hoke in an interview with The Michigan Daily this morning. While Hoke might not be the one who decides whether a player can go back into the game, he didn’t even pull Morris in the first place to have him examined. That’s why many people, including our Jane Coaston, have called for Hoke to be fired. Fans held a protest that called for the firing of Brandon, and there are reports that Michigan has already started looking for his replacement.
