With over half of the season in the books, college football’s best and worst ATS teams have emerged.
The best
Ole Miss Rebels (7-0 ATS, 7-0 SU): To this point in the season, Ole Miss has passed every test put in front of it. Key games against Auburn and Mississippi State come at home down the stretch; the Rebels are a 3.5-point road favorite Saturday night vs. LSU at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
TCU Horned Frogs (6-0 ATS, 5-1 SU): TCU has proved it can hang with the Big 12's best, beating Oklahoma and Oklahoma State outright and just narrowly getting edged out by Baylor. Averaging 45 points per game and owning one of the conference's better defenses, TCU should continue to be a reliable bet over the second half of its season.
Nebraska Cornhuskers (6-1 ATS, 6-1 SU): Nebraska hosts Rutgers this Saturday as a 17.5-point favorite. While many college football fans and bettors have disregarded the Big Ten since the conference's slow start to the season in out-of-conference play, teams like Nebraska at 6-1 SU and ATS and Ohio State at 5-1 SU and ATS have proven to be reliable bets.
Western Michigan and Georgia Southern are also 6-1.
The worst
Connecticut Huskies (0-6 ATS, 1-5 SU): No other team has been more helpless against the spread than the Huskies, who average only 12.3 points per game. Connecticut is a 28-point underdog on Thursday night at East Carolina at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Florida State Seminoles (1-6 ATS, 7-0 SU): Florida State may be one of the best teams in the country, but the Seminoles simply aren't covering spreads this season. The Seminoles have won 22 straight games, but are 1-7 ATS over their last eight since going 12-2 ATS over the previous 14.
South Carolina and UCLA are also 1-6 ATS.
SMU Mustangs (1-5 ATS, 0-6 SU): Allowing 48 points per game on defense and scoring only 6.5 points per game, SMU is easily one of the most hopeless teams in football. Even when receiving 31 points or more as an underdog the Mustangs are 1-3 ATS.
North Carolina and Wisconsin are also 1-5 ATS.
