Georgia escaped with a three-point win over Tennessee last week, but the Bulldogs will hope for an easier time Saturday afternoon at home against Vanderbilt.

Can the ‘Dores hang with the Dawgs?
The Commodores, for the most part, have been awful. Through five games they have just one win, and they rank last in the SEC in every major offensive category. Averaging just 254.6 yards and 17.0 points per contest, Vandy's attack is easily the worst in the conference right now. The quarterback situation is a mess: Four players have taken snaps, and preferred starter Patton Robinette appears to be unavailable for Saturday's game.
Georgia's offense has been fine with running back Todd Gurley averaging 152.5 yards per game, but the Bulldogs have been a bit shaky in pass defense. They're giving up 231.8 yards per game through the air -- eighth in the SEC. Their 22.8 points allowed per game ranks ninth.

The numbers
Rankings and records: Georgia is 3-1 (1-1 SEC), ranked No. 12 in the USA Today Coaches Poll and No. 13 in the AP Top 25. Vanderbilt is 1-4 (0-3) and nowhere near anyone’s top 25.
Vegas: The Dawgs opened as 32.5-point favorites, and that line has moved slightly to 33.5 at most sportsbooks. The over/under is set at 54.5.
Weather forecast: Mostly sunny with a high of 65 and a low of 43.
Two things at stake
Georgia has an upcoming stretch against Missouri, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky and Auburn, so taking care of business against Vandy without an injury concerns would be nice.
As huge underdogs, the Commodores have nothing to lose. They’d love to pull the monumental upset.
One big matchup
Georgia passing defense vs. Vanderbilt passing offense
This game shouldn’t be close -- if it is, Georgia has much bigger problems -- but it could show just how big of a weakness the Bulldogs’ secondary is. Vanderbilt is averaging a measly 148.4 passing yards per game, and the Commodores have thrown for three times as many interceptions (nine) as touchdowns (three). In other words, Vandy’s pass offense is awful.
Georgia is back in the SEC East driver’s seat, but if the Dawgs’ DBs struggle against Vanderbilt, it’s a bad sign for the rest of the season.
