Cincinnati beat East Carolina despite doing *THIS* with 2 minutes left

Leading ECU, 45-40, at home with just over two minutes remaining, Cincinnati decided to go for it on fourth down from its own 33. The play UC chose was an option pitch, which did not connect.

Eight plays later, the Pirates scored and missed the two-pointer to take the 46-45 lead, leaving an ominous 1:01 on the clock. It’s only a bad idea because it didn’t work, I guess, but BOY did it not work.

UPDATE: Cincinnati won, 54-46, after a final-minute, go-ahead field goal, followed by a fumble return for a touchdown. This was a good game. This was a very good game.
