LSU was seconds away from really shaking up the SEC West race last Saturday, when the Tigers nearly took down Alabama. But alas, LSU allowed the Crimson Tide to drive down the field, send the game to overtime with a field goal and then win it in overtime thanks to a catch from a pseudo lineman.

Can Arkansas get its first SEC win under Bret Bielema?

Order has (temporarily) been restored in the SEC West, but LSU can’t lament what could have been, because the Tigers have a stiff test from the last place team in the division on tap for this week. Arkansas may be winless in the SEC, but the Razorbacks are much improved from last season, and they’re fresh off a bye week that followed a close seven-point loss to top-ranked Mississippi State. They’re even favored in this game!
Last year’s Arkansas team was bad, and LSU nearly lost to that one. Can Bret Bielema pick up his first SEC win against the rival Tigers? If there was ever a chance for a letdown game for LSU, this would be it.

Rankings and records: LSU is 7-3 and ranked 17th by the College Football Playoff committee. Arkansas is 4-5 and unranked.
Vegas: Arkansas opened as a 1.5-point favorite. The line is now one with an over/under of 48, per OddsShark.
Weather forecast: High of 36 and a low of 26 with a chance of snow.
Two things at stake
LSU can’t lose to Arkansas and stay in contention for one of the top bowl games.
A win would put the Razorbacks in contention for a bowl game. A loss would more likely than not mean no bowl in Bret Bielema’s second year in Fayetteville.
One big matchup
Arkansas offense vs. LSU defense: Arkansas has a solid defense, and it should be able to limit the LSU offense, which has been very inconsistent. The big question is whether the Razorbacks will be able to move the ball. They’ve been explosive at times, but they haven’t had enough offense to quite keep up in big games against Mississippi State and Alabama. If the offense can have a good game against a solid LSU defense, and if the defense holds up, the Razorbacks have a chance to pull off the upset.
