Sometimes conference expansion leads to great matchups, like Texas A&M vs. Alabama, Nebraska vs. Wisconsin/Iowa and Missouri vs. really anyone in the SEC. And sometimes, it gets you Oregon vs. Colorado. Ducks fans don’t really know what to think of this game, but they aren’t super passionate about it.
How to watch Colorado vs. Oregon: Game guide, TV/streaming, odds
Does Colorado stand a chance?
Oregon is likely going to the College Football Playoff this year, as long as it can win out. The Ducks have looked like the best team in the country for a lot of the the season, too. Colorado ... has not. The Buffaloes set the tone for the year with a big loss to Colorado State in their opener, and they haven’t rebounded.
So if you were looking for an Oregon or Colorado game to skip this season, this one might be it. But if you really insist on watching, here’s how you can do it.
How to watch, listen, and stream
Game time: 4:30 p.m. ET
TV: Pac-12 Network
Online streaming: Pac-12 Live
The numbers
Rankings and records: Oregon is 9-1 and ranked second by the College Football Playoff selection committee. Colorado is 2-8 and unranked.
Vegas: Oregon opened as a 34-point favorite. The line is now 32.5 with an over/under of 72.5, per OddsShark.
Weather forecast: High of 49 and a low of 42 with rain likely.
Two things at stake
Oregon needs to win to make the College Football Playoff.
There’s really nothing to lose here for Colorado, though a win would be nice for a program that has really struggled this year (and most years in recent history).
One big matchup
Colorado defense vs. Oregon offense: If Colorado is going to win this game, it’s going to have to find a way to at least slow down the Oregon offense. That’s a next-to-impossible task, since the Ducks are a well-oiled machine on offense and the Colorado defense is the 93rd best overall in college football and the 101st best at stopping the run (“best” isn’t a good word choice here).
It will be very tough for CU to pull out a win, but if the Buffaloes play their best defensive game of the year and the Ducks play their worst offensive game of the year, things might get interesting.
