Nebraska punted an Iowa TD off the back of a lineman’s head

An early candidate for Rivalry Week’s funniest touchdown.

Things have not been going well offensively for Nebraska in their regular season finale against Iowa Friday. The Cornhuskers forced four turnovers in the first half, but were only able to turn them into seven points. Down 17-7 in the third quarter, Nebraska got ready to punt the ball away for the fourth time. Disaster struck:

It’s not quite a BUTT PUNT, as many had hoped for on first glance. The ball went off a blocker’s helmet, caroming backwards towards the end zone for an Iowa touchdown.

On Nebraska’s next drive, Iowa blocked a field goal. Special teams are not going all that well for Bo Pelini’s squad, which look destined for yet another four-loss season.
