UNLV head coach Bobby Hauck announced he will resign at the end of the year following the team's finale against Nevada on Saturday. The Rebels have been atrocious under the watch of Hauck, going 15-48 since he became UNLV's coach in 2010 following a seven-year stint as Montana's head coach. The Rebs enter their 2014 finale at 2-10 and having lost five straight.
UNLV coach Bobby Hauck resigns
The Rebels will be in the market for a new head coach for just the third time since 1999.

Only once in Hauck’s five seasons have the Rebs been bowl eligible. UNLV went 7-6 and made it to the Heart of Dallas in 2013. In the each of Hauck’s other four seasons, including 2014, his teams won just two games.
Entering Week 14 of this season, UNLV ranks 109th in points scored per game (21.5) and 117th in points allowed (37.6). Its two wins have been over Northern Colorado of the FCS and 5-6 Fresno State. UNLV has rarely been competitive in games, falling by two or more scores in eight of its 10 losses.
Hauck released a statement via the UNLV athletic department:
“We were given an opportunity to get it done here at UNLV and we simply did not win enough games,” Hauck said. “It’s my responsibility to push the program forward and I wish we would have produced better results.
“I would like to thank our University leadership for their support of our program; in particular, President Don Snyder, Athletics Director Tina Kunzer-Murphy and Board of Regents Chair Kevin Page. In addition, I would like to thank our student body, alumni and community leaders for their support of Rebel Football.”
UNLV athletic director Tina Kunzer-Murphy accepted Hauck’s resignation:
“No one has worked harder in trying to achieve consistent success with our football program than Coach Hauck and we thank him for his dedication and leadership. He and his staff have worked tirelessly in trying to achieve the results we all want to see but it unfortunately has not happened. We wish Bobby and his family the very best in their future endeavors.”
