College Football Playoff title odds for Alabama beating Oregon and 7 other outcomes

It’s never too early to bet on matchups that might (or might not) happen.

SB Nation 2014 College Football Guide

The spreads for every bowl game this year have already come out, and in the College Football Playoff semifinals, Oregon is a 9-point favorite over Florida State in the Rose Bowl, while Alabama is a 9-point favorite over Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl.

But since this is the first year of the Playoff, it’s also the first year that we don’t know what the final matchup of bowl season will be. Bill Connelly’s numbers predicted Alabama has a 39 percent chance of winning the national title, making it the favorite. And now Bovada has us covered with the lines for all of the hypothetical championship game matchups.

Florida State Ohio State 3
Alabama Florida State 7

Not surprisingly, the odds for each team to win the championship coincide with their seeds.

Bovada also released the over/under for each power conference’s bowl wins, excluding the College Football Playoff Championship Game. Like basically everyone else, Vegas is not too bullish on the Big Ten.

Conference Over/Under Total Bowl Games
ACC 4.5 11
Big Ten 3.5 10
Big 12 3.5 7
Pac-12 5.5 8
SEC 7.5 12

The Pac-12 was the only conference to have a line to be undefeated in all of its bowl games (excluding the championship game), since the conference is favorited in all of those games. The line is 20/1.
