Watch the 2014 Miami Beach Bowl: BYU vs. Memphis game time, TV schedule, live online streaming
Football in Miami for the holidays.
If you can’t make it to one of the bigger bowl games, landing at Miami Beach isn’t a bad spot to spend your postseason. That’s the case for Memphis and BYU, who will face off in the Miami Beach Bowl at Marlins Park.
The Cougars were the early favorites to make a major bowl game as the highest-ranked non-power conference team, which ended up going to a 10-2 Boise State squad. BYU started off 4-0 with three wins over Power-5 teams, the most impressive of which being a 41-7 demolition of Texas in Week 2.
However, Heisman-contending quarterback Tayon Hill suffered a broken leg vs. Utah State, a game the Cougs went on to lose. BYU lost the next three games after that to fall out of the top 25 altogether, but did rebound with a nice four-game winning streak to end the year.
Memphis finished the season with six straight victories -- its longest in-season winning streak since 1969 -- and claimed a share of the American conference, its first conference title since 1971

One big matchup
Christian Stewart vs. Memphis Defense
As mentioned earlier, the Cougars lost quarterback Taysom Hill early in the season, and that paved the way for senior Christian Stewart to leave his mark in his final collegiate season. He threw for 2,273 yards and 22 scores in nine games while rushing 71 times for 174 yards and four more scores. He's the key to stopping the Cougars offense, but his dual-threat capability makes him hard for any team to defend.
