Dorial Green-Beckham dismissed from Missouri football team

Dorial Green-Beckham has been dismissed from the Missouri football team after earning a suspension earlier in the week following a weekend altercation with his girlfriend and two other women.

Dorial Green-Beckham has been dismissed from the Missouri football program, the school announced Friday. Green-Beckham had a troubled offseason, punctuated most recently by a suspension last Monday stemming from an altercation with his girlfriend and two other women over the weekend. Head coach Gary Pinkel released a statement on the dismissal:

“This decision was made with the best interests of all involved in mind, ” Pinkel said. “Dorial’s priority going forward needs to be focusing on getting the help he needs. As we have all along, we will continue to do everything we can to assist Dorial and his family. We care deeply about Dorial and his well-being, but hopefully he can benefit from a fresh start.”

Green-Beckham was reportedly involved in a burglary that took place Saturday night. He allegedly forced his way into an apartment while the female occupant was attempting to close the door, then assaulted another occupant causing her to fall down at least four stairs. The wideout was reportedly looking for his girlfriend, who later texted one of the women and warned her against pressing charges.

No arrests were made at the conclusion of an investigation. Green-Beckham is reportedly set to enter counseling.

There’s no word yet on what Green-Beckham will do now that he has been dismissed from the team. He is coming off his true sophomore season, and is thus ineligible to declare for the NFL Supplemental Draft because he is not yet three years removed from high school.

University of Missouri athletic director Mike Alden met with the media following Green-Beckham’s dismissal.
