While we wait to see what will replace ALL THE TOSTITOS as the prize for Arizona’s major bowl game, it appears that the state’s second-tier bowl will be played for ALL THE CACTI!
‘Cactus Bowl’ new name of former Buffalo Wild Wings, Insight.com, Copper, etc. Bowl
The Arizona-based bowl has its third sponsor in four years.

The Valley of the Sun Bowl Foundation announced on Thursday that the former Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl would be renamed the Cactus Bowl.
"Our new name represents an iconic symbol for the state of Arizona," said Mike Nealy, Cactus Bowl Executive Director. "The name will also resonate with the thousands of fans traveling to the Southwest to experience our great bowl game and unmatched hospitality."
Buffalo Wild Wings has owned naming rights for the bowl the past two years, though it has had a number of different sponsors and names since its inception as the Copper Bowl in 1989. Via Wikipedia:
- Copper Bowl (1989)
- Domino’s Pizza Copper Bowl (1990-1991)
- Weiser Lock Copper Bowl (1992-1995)
- Copper Bowl (1996)
- Insight.com Bowl (1997-2001)
- Insight Bowl (2002-2011)
- Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl (2012-2013)
There’s no word on a sponsor for this game yet. This year’s game, played on the campus of Arizona State in Tempe, will feature teams from the Big 12 and Pac-12 on January 2, on ESPN.
Maybe now that it’s no longer the sponsor, Buffalo Wild Wings will actually show the game on its TVs.
