Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller reinjured his surgically repaired right shoulder in practice Monday evening, putting his 2014 season in doubt just days before it was set to begin. The news was first reported by Tim May of the Columbus Dispatch Monday night:
Braxton Miller injury: Ohio State quarterback reinjures shoulder, puts season in doubt
The defending Big Ten MVP could miss the entire 2014 season after an injury during practice Monday.

— Tim May (@TIM_MAYsports) August 19, 2014 According to CBS Sports’ Jeremy Fowler, Miller suffered the injury while throwing an out route in a non-contact drill. He will have an MRI Tuesday morning:
Braxton Miller was scheduled for an MRI on Tues morning, unless Ohio State pushed it up as news grew, according to a source.
— Jeremy Fowler (@JFowlerCBS) August 19, 2014 Fowler further reports that Ohio State doesn’t yet know how much time Miller will miss, if any. The news of the injury and MRI has not yet been confirmed by either head coach Urban Meyer or Ohio State spokespeople, but it has caused Ohio State’s Vegas odds to plummet.
Miller first injured his right shoulder in January’s Orange Bowl loss to Clemson, and had surgery during the offseason to repair the damage. The surgery forced Miller to miss Ohio State’s spring practices, and the quarterback’s return to full speed has been deliberate. Miller is the two-time defending Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, and was considered a preseason candidate for the Heisman Trophy.
Should Miller miss time due to the injury, Ohio State is likely to turn to redshirt freshman J.T. Barrett. According to Land-Grant Holy Land, Barrett holds a lead over Cardale Jones for the backup quarterback position.
