Gunner Kiel throws TD in first 2 college drives, 4 schools later

In July 2011, five-star Indiana high school quarterback Gunner Kiel committed to the Hoosiers. Five months later, he committed to LSU. About a month later, he ended up at Notre Dame. Somewhere in there, LSU head coach Les Miles publicly critiqued the size of the quarterback’s chest. In April 2013, Kiel wound up at Cincinnati.

And on September 12, 2014, the former five-star threw his first college touchdown, a 17-yarder to Mekale McKay, in his first college drive, as Cincinnati began its season in Week 3 against Toledo. He followed it with a 22-yard sideline throw to Max Morrison for another score.

He now has 122 yards in his first fully competitive action since high school all-star games two years ago. Because college football is weird, that gives him 11 more than ... Indiana, which has already played one full game this year and threw just 18 times against Indiana State.

ESPN reported from the field after the first score that Kiel asked his Bearcats teammates about what it’s like to play in a college football game.

Welcome to college football, Gunner!
