Ohio State puts emoji icon cards in end zone seats

It’s an emoji mystery...

Cards that, when shown, form an emoji icon, are on seats behind the goalposts at Ohio Stadium, and nobody seems to know why.

Here, the emoji icon photobombs a young Buckeye fan’s picture.

According to a former officer who spoke to Luke Zimmermann of Land-Grant Holy Land, the emoji is the work of Ohio State student group Block O. Four hours prior to kickoff, the group sets up cards in the north and south stadium sections with the help of software that confirms the layout. Presumably, those cards are then used as a distraction during field goal and extra point kicks. Their effectiveness today could be determined by how much Kent State’s kicker is into the internet.

Ohio State kicks off against Kent State at noon. The mystery should be solved soon after.
