Syracuse is playing Notre Dame this week in a meeting of one team that has been very good historically and another that hasn’t been very good since the 1950s. But that didn’t stop the Orange from grouping themselves with the Irish to hype this “historic” matchup.

- LSU and New Mexico State have combined to spend 86 consecutive weeks in the top 25!
- Michigan and Minnesota have a combined 254 straight games (and counting) of attracting over 100,000 fans!
- Northwestern and Penn State combined to win two national titles in the ‘80s!
Maybe we should all adopt the practices of Syracuse’s sports information department. There would be so many more historic games to watch.
