Oklahoma will hire East Carolina’s Lincoln Riley as its next offensive coordinator, according to multiple reports. He replaces co-offensive coordinators Jay Norvell and Josh Heupel, who were dismissed by head coach Bob Stoops this offseason.

Riley, 31, followed East Carolina head coach Ruffin McNeill over from Texas Tech in 2010 and has been the offensive coordinator for the Pirates ever since. The Pirates are 37-27 in that time, winning one Conference USA East title and making four bowl appearances. East Carolina finished in the Top 25 in scoring offense in the three of his five seasons in Greenville.
The move also signals a return to Air Raid roots for Bob Stoops and Oklahoma, which scored 36.4 points per game but ranked 85th nationally in passing offense. The Pirates ranked third this season with 371.9 yards in the air per game. East Carolina didn’t run the ball quite as well as Oklahoma in 2014, but there’s one new weapon Riley will have in his arsenal:
