Just a week ago, West Virginia looked like it could be the best team in the Big 12. But after getting blown out by Oklahoma in Norman, the Mountaineers might have to temper expectations of a conference championship. Still, this could be a good bounceback season for Dana Holgorsen at West Virginia.
How to watch Oklahoma State vs. West Virginia on TV or online, plus 3 things to know
We’ll learn a lot more about both teams this week.

WVU still has a very good defense -- that’s pretty shocking to say about an Air Raid team like this -- and the offense has proven it can get the job done. Even if the Mountaineers can’t take down the elite teams in the conference, they still have a chance to be special and maybe pull off an upset or two. But if they’re going to be taken seriously, this game against Holgorsen’s last landing spot before he came WVU’s head coach -- he was the offensive coordinator at Oklahoma State -- is a must-win.
Oklahoma State is an interesting, but unproven team. The Cowboys come into this game 5-0 and ranked 21st in the country, but they haven’t been all that impressive. Their two conference wins were near losses to measly Texas and horribly injured Kansas State, and they benefited from some very bad calls in both games. This week, the games get tough and we’ll find out whether Oklahoma State truly is a sleeper in the Big 12.

Three big things to know
1. The hype has tempered on West Virginia, but the Mountaineers can still have a good season. If they lose this one, the season could spiral quickly, even with a good team.
2. Is Oklahoma State any good? We really don’t know yet, despite the record and national ranking. We’ll learn a lot more this week.
3. WVU’s star defensive back, Karl Joseph, is out for the season with a knee injury. How will the Mountaineers’ defense adjust?
