Leonard Fournette offers to auction jersey for South Carolina relief, and NCAA’s OK with it
The Tigers star and Heisman favorite prepared a written statement regarding his opponent’s home state, which he read on ESPN after the win.

The six things to know about this:
1. South Carolina’s home game against LSU had to relocate to Baton Rouge due to flooding in the Columbia area. LSU won 45-24, thanks in part to Leonard Fournette cracking 1,000 yards on the year.
2. LSU did just about everything it could to keep up appearances, from flying the South Carolina state flag to teaching its band the Gamecocks’ alma mater.
3. LSU has been in South Carolina’s shoes before, as 10 years ago Hurricane Katrina forced the Tigers to play a home game at Arizona State.
4 Fournette, New Orleans native, has also been in South Carolina’s shoes before:
The stress of being the nation’s No. 1 rated high school recruit a year ago, the burden of expecting to be immediately brilliant last season as a freshman and the weight of those annually growing expectations aren’t a big deal for Fournette.
Pressure is little Leonard at 10 years old and living with his family on the Interstate 10 bridge at Claiborne after Hurricane Katrina washed away their Slidell home after it made landfall Aug. 29, 2005.
Pressure is Leonard and his family carrying his grandmother and small cousins through rising floodwaters. Pressure is wading through a flooded Circle K store to loot food and water on top shelves to keep his family alive.
5. Fournette just does this kind of thing. Not only is he the country’s most amazing athlete right now, he’s known by those who covered his recruitment and who cover his current team as pleasant and respectful of his physical lessers, who are many.
6. The NCAA will actually do the smart thing for once and let him receive money for his incredible talents, though it’s money for someone else.
Leonard Fournette can auction his jersey for SC flood victims.
— NCAA (@NCAA) October 11, 2015 I’m not sure where this came from, but it was likely from an LSU official:
#LSU RB Leonard Fournette says the NCAA will not allow him to auction his jersey for the SC flooding relief. "Violation," he said.
— Ross Dellenger (@DellengerAdv) October 10, 2015 Either way, I’m sure the good people of Louisiana can figure out a way to make this work.
